Bank of England unveils untearable £5 note

It had been known for months and yesterday the Bank of England has officially unveiled the design of the new 5-pounds banknotes that will come into circulation from September 13.
On one side appears the irreplaceable face of Queen Elizabeth, and on the other that of the statesman Winston Churchill, selected to replace Elizabeth Fry, nineteenth-century reform of the penitentiary system in the United Kingdom.
But the big change from the past is the fact that banknotes are plasticized and therefore able to emerge unscathed from the centrifuge up to 90 degrees. Unlike the old 5 pounds, made of a material derived from cotton fibers, the new ones – slightly smaller – are made using a non rigid polymer. Experts from the Bank of England believe that tickets are also counterfeit-proof.
