Swiss motorcycle market dropped in 2016

Motorcycle market contracted in Switzerland. Sales of new motorcycles fell in the first nine months of the year to 24,464, a decrease of 880 units compared to the same period of 2015. The high-powered ones continue to be greatly appreciated. Motosuisse, the swiss motorcycle manufacturers association, announced in a statement that 2015 was a record year, with an increase in new registrations by 17%.

Besides low prices, due to the abandonment of the minimum exchange rate with the euro, permitted to record amazing data.

Almost two-thirds of sales in the first three quarters of 2016 have involved motorbikes with an engine displacement over 750 cc while registrations of electric vehicles have increased from 66 to 108. The scooter sales registered a decline by 10.5 %.
