Unemployment bulletin: dead calm in Switzerland

The unemployed registered at employment offices at the end of October, were 144.531 in Switzerland, or 1.856 units more than the previous month, according to figures released by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). However, the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.2%, confirming the trend from May. At the beginning of the year it was 3.6%.
The unemployed persons increased by 3.262 units (+ 2.3%), compared to October 2015.
The number of unemployed young people between 15 and 24 years old, 19'095, decreased by 4.7% month-on-month and 3.6% on a year earlier.
Persons seeking employment, unemployed and trainees looking for a job, in October were 207.512, 3.944 more than in September and 6.592 (+ 3.3%) more of 2015 data .
The job vacancies advertised by the regional employment centers (RAV) decreased by 121 units to 10.910 units.
According to provisional data provided by the unemployment funds, in August, 3.512 have been calling for their right to the benefits of insurance against unemployment.
In August 4.465 people were employed in short-time work, 5.1% more than the previous month. The canton of Ticino marks a slight increase in the unemployment rate, which reached 3.4% (+ 0.2% compared to October), a decrease of 0.2% year on year.
