Swiss companies invested CHF 100 billion abroad in 2015

Resident companies in Switzerland have invested CHF 100 billion abroad in 2015, as informs the National Bank in a statement, specifying that Swiss direct investments abroad are higher than the average of the last ten years. About 54 billion francs compared to 3 billion in 2014, they were carried out by financial companies and holding companies. According to SNB, these sectors have seen major fluctuations in placements, often due to the restructuring plan.
Commercial companies have invested far from Switzerland 27 billion francs. Resident companies have invested 77 billion in other companies domiciled in Europe, mainly the European Union, while the main destination outside the old continent was Asia.
The stock of foreign direct investment increased by 47 billion and stood at 1'121 billion, up 4%. It is the financial companies and holding companies to hold the highest stock, for about 393 billion, followed by chemicals and plastics group with 169 billion. Revenues of foreign direct investment rose from 83 billion to 92 billion francs.
The non-resident enterprises have invested 68 billion francs in Switzerland, 44 in the financial sector. In 2015 the stock of foreign direct investment in Switzerland rose by 62 billion to 883 billion, up 8%. The EU countries hold the 78% stake.
Resident companies employ more than two million people in their non-resident subsidiaries, 853.000 in Europe and 538.000 in Asia.
