Book Review: Inevitable: Understanding the 12 Technological Forces that will shape our Future

Technology is shaping everybody’s life as it has always been. However, in the last 30 years the Internet has been one of the driving forces of many of the changes that have taken place. Computers, argues Kevin Kelly, were not «adequate» as long as they were unconnected.

His book Inevitable: Understanding the 12 Technological Forces that will shape our Future, deals with the roots of digital technology because these are the ones that make the changes that lie ahead inevitable, as the title states. The road the world takes is indeed formed by the choices people make in the technological field.

Chapters relate to a sort of philosophy underneath the world of technology, like the first one, Becoming, where Kelly explains how human beings are bound to become more and more «newbies» facing the future technology, which will keep becoming obsolete at a faster pace. His view is optimistic and wants to offer a way to face a world that might frighten someone, in order to better confront it.

The book is one of New York Times bestsellers and will be published on the 6th of June for Penguin.
