Low-THC cannabis is booming in Switzerland

Switzerland’s market for legal cannabis with just 1 percent THC is taking off as producers are having trouble keeping up with demand and the number of registered retailers has grown significantly in the last year, according to a report from Reuters. Authorities expect sales upwards of $30 million this year, but admit even that is a conservative estimate.

KannaSwiss, a low-THC cannabis wholesaler, has quadrupled its staff to 20 since last year but co-founder Corso Serra di Cassano said the company is still having trouble keeping up with orders.

Americans travel to Swiss Alps

More Americans are traveling to Switzerland, visiting cities and mountain regions alike. U.S. arrivals and overnights increased again in 2016 compared to the previous year. For the seventh consecutive year, there has been an increase, showing total growth of more than 30% since 2009. Last year the Alpine country welcomed 854.687 americans tourists. The number of overnight hotel stays by US visitors also grew in 2016 to 1.84 million, a 5.5% increase from 2015.
“Switzerland is the best country in the world, according to a recent study by U.S. News &World Report. This will hopefully motivate even more Americans to find their way – or their way back – to Switzerland,” said Alex Herrmann, Director Americas, Switzerland Tourism.

Rolex confirms to be the World’s Most Reputable Company

Rolex, the luxury Swiss watchmaker, is the brand with the best corporate reputation in the eyes of consumers, according to a new global survey.

Reputation Institute (RI), a reputation management consultancy, each year compiles a list of the top 100 most reputable companies in the world based on more than 170,000 ratings collected across 15 countries.

Using its proprietary RepTrak measurement system, RI tracks consumers’ perceptions across seven key areas: products and services, innovation, workplace, governance, citizenship, leadership and performance.

Nestlé to focus on reducing sugar programm in its products

A report released by the Maltese Presidency and the European Commission on Wednesday says that childhood obesity should be tackled at an early stage and that schools can play a positive role in encouraging healthy eating habits.

“Considering the amount of time that children spend at school, as well as the fact that in many European countries students consume at least one daily main meal there, schools are an ideal environment for supporting healthy behaviours,” the report states.

Childhood obesity in Europe is increasing: in 2010, about one in three European children between the ages of six and nine were overweight or obese, while 2008 estimates were only about one in four.
