Technical analysis : XAU/USD continues to climb in rising wedge formation

The yellow metal is continuing to trade against the buck at the intersection of large ascending channel and junior rising wedge formations.

Although the larger pattern managed to constrain the bullish sentiment for now, but the rising 55-, 100- and 200-hour SMAs as well as ongoing concerns over implementation of the US President Donald Trump’s tax plan suggest that such upward movement is going to continue and might actually reach the upper trend-line of another dominant descending channel near the 1,293.00 mark.

OPEC forecasts more global oil demand in case of electric cars boom

The use of oil in the road transportation sector will increase even as the sale of electric vehicles is expected to rise, according to the annual long-term outlook from OPEC. If a quarter of the world’s cars have batteries, global oil demand would reach a plateau of about 109 million barrels a day during the second half of the 2030s, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries said in its annual World Oil Outlook.

Hedge Fund Traders are a little bit narcissists

The world of hedge funds is often a cut throat one, where manipulation is often considered just a part of the game. But a new study shows that the most aggressive, ruthless traders actually do worse than the ones who try a little tenderness.

The study, found in the latest issue of Personality & Social Psychology Bulletin, finds that hedge fund managers who exhibit ‘psychotic’ behavior (defined by healthcare professionals as someone who acts in a manipulative fashion for personal gain) had the worst investment records.

Chipotle downgraded by excessive labor costs

Shares in Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. were falling slightly Wednesday after an analyst downgraded the stock, claiming excessive labor costs. Bank of American Merrill Lynch downgraded Chipotle and cut its earnings targets for 2018 and 2019, saying the struggling restaurant chain will have trouble cutting back labor costs any further than it already has.

Swiss students team wins International Solar contest

Four Swiss universities came together to build the US Department of Energy’s 2017 Solar Decathlon overall winner. Eleven teams competed over the course of two years to build a home taking into account modern global demands of “reliability, resilience, and security.”

The Swiss schools – École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, School of Engineering and Architecture Fribourg, Geneva University of Art and Design, and the University of Fribourg – scored perfect 100’s in energy, architecture and engineering categories.
