Ecological breakthrough: France will launch green bonds in 2017

France will launch, in 2017, the first round of green bonds that will finance environmental investments. The announcement came a few days ago directly from the Environment and Economy Ministers, Ségolène Royal and Michel Sapin.
The transaction, for "several billion euro" aims to support sustainable investment and was already announced in recent months by Prime Minister François Hollande. It will all be included in the next budget law.
Unlike other bonds, so they have the characteristic of being oriented to the full transition of France towards the green economy, through the development of renewable energy projects, energy efficiency, efficient management of resources, mobility and so on.
On the other hand Hollande himself had declared that France would be the first country in the world to issue green bonds; Pascal Canfin, former minister now director general of WWF France, argues that Paris could become the green finance leaders.
As for the terms of issue of the bonds will be created an interministerial working group, also useful to involve associations and various stakeholders that can monitor, confirm and support their work. Surely the bonds will be part of the funding program set in motion by Agence France Trésor for 2017.
