Eni will remain in Libya, assures CEO Descalzi

"Never thought to leave, even in the most critical moments", so Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Eni said in an interview with the Italian newspaper L'Avvenire, regarding a possible abandonment of Libya.
"Eni provides 100% of the gas for electricity generation and 50% for domestic users," he added Descalzi. "We guarantee the energy to all parties, but especially to the entire population. If we left, we do a disservice to the country."

On the issue of combating climate change explains: "We are going through a sea change that should lead us towards a low-carbon future." It emphasizes: "The majority of emissions, about 70%, is related to energy consumption. Mankind, in short, must find a remedy. Soon. From the energy lords," he says.

For Descalzi "the Cop 21 in Paris was a success, because he saw for the first time the commitment of 195 countries in the world. But in the absence of unique objectives and rules, will not significantly impact on reducing emissions. Not we can no longer wait: in a growing energy system, we need competitive and accessible to all sources to promote development while preserving the environment. "
