Fintech, the hottest topics at Findating Geneva

Technology and the solutions it can offer to the world of finance were among the hottest topics at FinDating. The event, which took place in Geneva on June 22nd, introduced a few new concepts with the keynote speakers who were invited. Among them, Kim-Andrée Potvin opened with a recounting of the experience of BNP Paribas in tackling technological and digital new challenges.
Pavlos Christoforou, cofounder and partner at PointNine, explained «The regulatory challenge: Lessons learned after one billion trades processed», and regulation was again the topic touched by Yana Afanasieva, of Swiss Finance + Technology Association. Giacomo Zucco – BlockchainLab – went then in depth talking about blockchain technology.
Marek Paertel explained the importance of FinTech in the innovation hub of Estonia and Giuseppe Calabrese, founder of Rataran Rating & Ranking, explained how it can innovate the old Wealth Management approach. The day was closed by Jean de Skowronski, partner at DuraWealth, talking about «Investing in a Fast Transforming World», and Carlo Terreni, General Director of NetComm Suisse Association, regarding the investment opportunities offered by the digital transformation of fashion and retail.
One of the most awaited moments, however, was that dedicated to the «business speed dating», a 3-minute presentation that partecipants could tackle to show others their idea. The best presentations were chosen by other partecipants: the five winners were Eugenia Grygorchuk, project management of Dukascopy, followed by Francesca Duregon for FinLantern, Marc-André Pepin of Invescap, Comstage’s Marco Infuso and Daniel Nelva of Cornercard.
The total number of partecipants was 291, up 20 per cent compared to 2016. More interestingly, 60 per cent of them were in the buy side category.
The day ended on a fun note with a fashion show by La Perla.
