Google is working for Twitter bid

Google has already been named as a potential bidder for Twitter,  Bloomberg reported, citing "a person familiar with the arrangement," that  Alphabet subsidiary Google is working with financial advisers Lazard to explore a bid for the social media company. Nonetheless, its spokeswoman Gina Scigliano refused to comment on the situation. A Lazard representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Twitter is thought to be valued at $16 billion, and has hired Goldman Sachs and Allen & Co to solicit potential buyers, added Bloomberg.

This doesn’t mean that Google is indeed looking to purchase the social  media platform, but that they are interested and evaluating whether it  would be a good idea to purchase it.

The  the Mountain View company joins Salesforce.com and Walt Disney Company as companies who are reported to be interested in Twitter.
In August, Twitter cofounder and board member Ev Williams told Bloomberg that “as a board member we have to consider the right options.” It's not the first time that Google has displayed interest in 140- character social network. It was rumored to be interested in the social  media network back in 2009 as well.
Insiders have said previously that they expect a deal to be announced before the end of the year.
