Hyperloop is studying high speed transportation for Moscow

Russia could be the first country in the world to use an high speed public transportation. The main investor of the project is Ziyavudin Magomedov, the magnate at the head of the group "Summa." Magomedov and the Moscow authorities are considering the construction of Hyperloop to connect the city center with the "new Moscow" and the airports of the capital.

"We signed an agreement with Moscow and we are evaluating different paths … it will be approved in December. But Moscow is just one of the ideas. The main thing is the transport of goods, the path from the northwest to the south through the territory of Russia, Iran, Pakistan, India. the second path is from China to Europe through Kazakhstan and Russia", Magomedov said.

Currently the "Summa" group together with one of the research institutes is analyzing the technical and economic feasibility of applying the technology to Hyperloop stretch of 70 kilometers from the customs logistics center in Hunchun, China, the port of Zarubino, Far East . The objective is therefore the diversification of trade routes to Europe through Russia and Central Asia.

Preliminary tests of Hyperloop system took place in May this year in the Nevada desert. Now the focus is on how to create and test a fully functional prototype of the vacuum tube and the magnetic levitation cabin, besides solving the main problem of the safety and comfort of passengers.

For Russia, the reduction of traffic from Asia to Europe is of great economic importance. The shorter and more economical alternative to the Trans-Siberian Railway is the sea transport, but it is slow and in winter, the frozen sea, the use of icebreakers is even more expensive. It is expected to employ Hyperloop system for the transport of goods in 2020 and 2021 for passenger transport. The vice president of Hyperloop Bruce Upbin wrote in his blog: "The Russians were the first to launch a satellite in orbit and can be the first to travel at the speed of sound."
