Swiss company will build Trump’s wall? Maybe

At least 180 companies have already declared their interest in working with President Trump to build his proposed wall along the U.S. border with Mexico, just three days after the government announced the contract bidding process was open.

More companies will likely signal interest in competing for President Donald Trump’s massive border wall project, but 180 construction and engineering firms from across the U.S. registered to submit a bid for the contract as of Monday evening.

The US Customs and Border Protection issued the preliminary requests on Friday and said it will accept proposals next month for the design of the wall.  The agency also said the it would release requests on or about March 6 asking companies for prototype ideas.

And Swiss companies like Sika and LafargeHolcim want to be in the actually most famous Trump's project.

If the application of Sika is only an intention, reports the Tages-Anzeiger, the LafargeHolcim group, world leader in the production of cement, is in fact already seen at the preliminary stage of the work.

The group's spokesman, Christian Meuter, however stated that the company will not have direct access to orders but will come into play only later, when the contract will be carried out by a construction company. The company is already the largest cement supplier in the US.

The best designs for the wall will be evaluated and selected by March 20. The details listed on the federal government's website for business opportunities also said vendors will be asked to provide proposals and the price of the costs for Trump's long-promised wall.
While President Trump has previously mentioned the development will cost $12billion, Republican Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell estimate the project will cost $15 billion.
