Swiss Post moves on the digital highway

The Post continues the reduction of their traditional offices: from the existing 1,400 today, it will come down to a number between 800 and 900 by 2020. In a statement today, the "yellow giant" announced that 1,200 employees "may be affected by a change". There were however no planned layoffs.
Over the next four years, the company intends to continue the development of the network access points, taking them from the current 3,700 to at least 4,000. If possible, it will continue to focus on the format tested by years of agency or branch with partners.
In addition, employees will be other points of access to the network such as the home delivery service, ATMs My Post 24, business customers points.
The exact number of traditional branches planned for 2020 will instead be determined after discussions with cantons and municipalities, said the statement. At the moment there are no closures without replacement. Will define the offices not involved in the transformation process, so as to ensure clarity on the corporate planning.
The Post motivates changes with customer trend to digitize the operations. Conversely, the turnover at the desk decreased substantially since 2000: 63% for letters, 42% for parcels and 37% for payment transactions.
The Post says it will increasingly stand out for convenience, thanks to the opening hours more than doubled over the past decade, and the combination with the partner shops.
