Swiss Post to knock on your door for cash money

Swiss Post has announced that, from September, it will introduce cash inpayments at the customer’s home in all communities which have only branches with partners. “This will enable private customers who prefer to make inpayments in cash to do so right on their doorstep,” said Swiss Post.

The company explained it has introduced this service because branches with partners “cannot offer cash payment transactions due to security requirements and the provisions of the Anti-Money Laundering Act”.

As previously reported, Swiss Post is looking to restructure its network, by reducing the number of “traditional post offices” and introducing more branches in the “agency format”.

While they may not be able to offer cash payment transactions, the Swiss Post branches with partners will be soon be able to provide other new services. “From 1 September,” said Swiss Post, “municipalities, associations and SMEs will be able to drop off bulk mailings at branches with partners, if space at the partner permits.”

Currently, cash payments are not allowed in partner branches because of the demands on security and the law on money laundering. In the future, transactions up to CHF 10,000 will be allowed at home in all locations that have only partner branches.

In some regions the subscription newspapers are not distributed with the early delivery. From 1 September, this will happen until noon, accepting the demands of customers.
