Swiss Railways will sell Bitcoin into the stations

SBB will launch on bitcoin market: from next November 11, travelers can buy the digital currency from the vending machines. Swiss railways intend to start a two-year test phase to determine whether there is a market for this kind of news.

The offer is done in collaboration with the Zug-based company SweePay, as the shipping company informs in a statement today. Customers, who need to have a QR-code enabled bitcoin wallet and a valid Swiss mobile phone number, will be able to buy between CHF 20 and CHF 500 francs and there will reportedly be a CHF 5000 annual cap on purchases.

The bitcoin can only be purchased at the stations, but not spent: it will not be accepted for the payment of tickets or other services provided by the company.
