Switzerland: failures on the rise in the first five months 2016

Rise in the Swiss business failures in the first five months of 2016, according to the survey of the economic information Bisnode company announced in a statement today. From January to May, the number of bankrupt companies insolvency has increased by 6% over the same period last year, to 1,933. Among the regions particularly affected Suisse Romande, an increase of 23%, leads the standings. The sectors which recorded the greatest risk are the construction, food and crafts.

Positive is at the same the evolution in terms of business creation: in total between January and May have been entered in the register of commerce 17'086 companies, amounting to an increase of 2% compared to the first five months of 2015.

Only in the month of May, 442 companies went bankrupt due to insolvency (-2%) and they were created 3'193 (+ 6%). In Ticino insolvencies in the first five months of the year were 142 (+ 4%), while the new 1,018 companies (-20%).
