Switzerland: immigrants billionaires like the Confederation

Hurun Report and Wailian Group on Tuesday released the Hurun Immigrant Billionaires List 2017, a ranking of the immigrant billionaires from around the world. The Hurun team of researchers extensively went through the Hurun Global Rich List 2017, pulling out all first generation immigrants, those who reside today in a country different to where they were born and/or brought up. This is the first year of the list and is a sublist of the Hurun Global Rich List 2017 series, released on 7 March. Hoogewerf said, "We believe this to be the first serious attempt to track the immigration status of the world's billionaires."
The research found 300 billionaires in 44, who migrated from 67 countries. They had an average wealth of US$3.8bn, 6% higher than the average of the Hurun Global Rich List 2017, and an average age of 65 years, one higher than the global list.
The country that hosts the largest number – 73 or 13% of the total resident – is the United States. Switzerland, however, ranks second, with 42 super wealthy immigrants, ie 51% of the total resident in the Alpine country. In third place is the UK, with 39 (48%). Russia (20), United Arab Emirates (13) and Singapore (11) are further back in the standings.
London is known as the "capital of billionaires immigrants", with 35 residents from other countries. Moscow ranks second with 20, while Geneva is third with 12.
The first country of origin of immigrants billionaires is Germany (31), while Switzerland is the favorite country for German expatriate billionaires, in total 12. In second place was India, with 30 expatriates, for more than a third over United Arab Emirates, China ranked third, with 24, including 9 in the US.
The richest Swiss immigrant is the Brazilian 77-year old Jorge Lemann, who in the special figure in third place with $ 26 billion assets, just after the 36-year old Russian Sergey Brin (Google co-founder Larry Page) immigrated to the USA ( 36 billion) and 86-year-old George Soros ($ 27 billion), he also lives in the US where he is naturalized.
