Nissan needs guarantees over Brexit impact

Nissan may ask compensation for any tariffs imposed after Brexit deal. The japanese car manufacturer, which Sunderland’s plant is active since 1986, warned that could scrap investment unless Britain promised to pay compensation for any tax barriers resulting from Brexit negotiations.

At Paris Auto Show, Ghosn said to reporters: “If I need to make an investment in the next few months and I can’t wait until the end of Brexit, then I have to make a deal with the UK government. If there are tax barriers being established on cars, you have to have a commitment for carmakers who export to Europe that there is some kind of compensation.”

Paris Auto Show: Ferrari revealed sold-out Aperta

LaFerrari Aperta has made its first appearance in public at the Paris Motor Show on Thursday, the droptop version of the brand’s hybrid hypercar launched in 2013.

Ferrari sales head Enrico Galliera said to Reuters that it will be limited to 209 special edition cars, 200 of which have already been pre-sold while the remainder will be kept in house for anniversary celebrations and added: “For us a limited edition is a way to reward our clients".

VW investors sue car giant for €8.2 bn over Dieselgate

Volkswagen will face claims for 8.2 billion euro over Dieselgate. About 1,400 lawsuits have been lodged at the regional court in Braunschweig near VW’s Wolfsburg headquarters, the court said.

The facts date back to last year, when from United States emerged that the Wolfsburg automaker used a software to make up the data on harmful emissions of its cars. Overall about two billion requests come from institutional investors, while the remaining 6.2 billion come from private investors.

Canada: GM and Union reached last-minute agreement to avoid strike

General Motors and Unifor, the Canadian trade union of workers in the sector, reached an agreement that averted a strike that would lead to blocking of some of the Canadian facilities of the company.

The deal, which will be subject to a ratification vote on Sunday, provides that Oshawa’s assembly plant will remain open, that it’s focused on sedans that come out of production in 2019 and GM is committed to investing "hundreds of millions of dollars" in a restructuring program to allow the assembly also of other product categories.

FCA recalls 1.9 million cars for airbag problems

FCA Us started a voluntary recall of more than 1.9 million vehicles worldwide to fix an air-bag defect linked to three deaths and five injuries. In particular, the US subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has set itself the goal of solving a defect that could prevent the proper functioning of airbags and pre-tensioner seat belts in an accident. The defect concerns vehicles equipped with a special control module and crash sensors with a specific design.

Marchionne: Magneti Marelli crucial for FCA

CEO Sergio Marchionne has denied the press rumors that were circulating at the weekend about possible news for the Magneti Marelli negotiations between the FCA and Samsung. The rumors that leaked out indicated that the vice president of Samsung Electronics Lee Jae Yong, would be moved to Europe to participate in the appointments to the Board of Directors of Exor, of which he is director.

FCA recalls 4.3 million cars in the US for airbag problems

FCA announced that Chrysler will recall voluntarily about 4.3 million vehicles produced in past years, between 2004 and 205, to replace the passenger airbag.

FCA said in a statement that the recall comes after the notification of defects by the supplier Takata, who alerted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (American authority of transport safety supervision). The "prolonged exposure to high levels of humidity and high temperatures may cause deterioration, which could result in failure or malfunction of the airbag". FCA for his part says that it is not "aware of any incident that would involve vehicles subject to the recall campaign".
