Master in Management Ranking: St Gallen is the best

The Master’s in Management (MiM) degree is a good way to increase your salary and gain an edge over competitors in your first job search after college. The MiM is a pre-experience program largely taken by those fresh out of undergraduate courses.

Each year since 2004, the Financial Times has ranked the world’s best MiMs, this year on metrics such as salary increase, career progress, and value for money. On Monday, the FT released its latest ranking of the world’s 95 best MiM degrees. Switzerland’s University of St Gallen retained its top spot, the seventh consecutive year its MA in Strategy and International Management has come first. HEC Paris is in second place for the fourth year on the trot, while Spain’s IE Business School rose four places to third.

Swiss students ask to rejoin Erasmus before 2021

Switzerland should be reintegrated into the Erasmus+ student exchange programme from the beginning of 2018, and not in 2021 as the government wants, says the Swiss Student Union.

On Monday a petition signed by 10,000 people was lodged with the federal government, demanding that Switzerland resume its negotiations with the EU on the subject so that Swiss students can be reintegrated in the programme by 2018 and to allocate sufficient financial resources to the scheme.

ETH Zurich remains top University for reputation in Europe

The Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings 2017 rank the universities that academics believe excel in teaching and research.

A questionnaire was sent to a selection of experienced published scholars, between January 2017 and March 2017, asking them to offer their views on the standards of teaching and research in their disciplines and in institutions that they are familiar with. The responses were then used to determine which universities were considered the most prestigious. The full methodology of the THE World Reputation Rankings can be found here.

Swiss students ask for Erasmus coming back

Swiss students require Erasmus: the youth arms of several political parties are petitioning the government to resume negotiations for Switzerland to rejoin the student exchange programme.

When Switzerland was compelled to suspend negotiations to join Erasmus+ after voting to place limits on immigration from the European Union in a 2014 referendum, it established a replacement, the Swiss-European Mobility Programme, within six weeks.
It was successful in the majority of cases. In fact, Switzerland’s incoming and outgoing student mobility increased between 2014-15 and 2015-16.

Switzerland, the country for business talents

One again, Switzerland again ranked No. 1 on the list, according to the 2017 Global Talent Competitiveness Index 2015-16, released by INSEAD, the France-based business school for the world. The research is produced in partnership with the Adecco Group and the Human Capital Leadership Institute of Singapore.

Essentially, the report argued that while tech advancements will continue to disrupt the workplace and displace jobs, new opportunities will also be created. High ranking countries share key traits, according to INSEAD.
