Microsoft calls for Tech industry as a neutral Digital Switzerland

"Even in an age of rising nationalism, we as a global technology sector need to become a trusted and neutral digital Switzerland," Smith said at the RSA Conference 2017 in San Francisco.

This week’s security conference is getting more focus than ever before, thanks to the 2016 US presidential election, which generated more news on cyberattacks, email leaks, and cybersecurity blunders than anything else. The United States had formally accused Russia of hacking the Democratic Party to influence election results. While the US and private security firms released reports showing a connection to Russia, not everyone trusted these results since Russia won’t accept the blame and a Democratic President was then leading the US.

The 8 richest men hold half of the world

Eight men now own the same amount of wealth as the poorest half of the world. A top corporate CEO earns as much in a year as 10,000 garment factory workers in Bangladesh. And the world’s 10 biggest corporations together have revenue greater than the 180 poorest countries combined, according to a study published Sunday by Oxfam.

The charity’s report, "An economy for the 99%", was released as global leaders and the business elite traveled to Davos, Switzerland, for the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum; it suggests the wealth gap is wider than ever, with new data for China and India indicating that the poorest half of the world owns less than previously estimated.

Facebook and Microsoft along with a submarine cable internet

Microsoft and Facebook Join Forces to cross the Atlantic Ocean. The cable, called "TIDE", will be able to guarantee a bandwidth equal to 160 terabits per second and will extend more than 6,600 kilometers on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

The ultimate goal, of course, is to allow Facebook and Microsoft to be able to more easily manage the huge traffic that generate many of their servers. The services are increasingly moving to the cloud and this means that in the future the data request will be increasing. They serve, therefore, next-generation infrastructure that can provide more bandwidth to ensure quick and easy access around the world.
