Volkswagen is looking for agreement with US authorities

Volkswagen could reach a final agreement with the US authorities by October, "or at least the beginning of November." This was reported by Bloomberg, citing Dietmar Voggenreiter, head of sales and marketing of the Audi brand, interviewed by Reuters in Hong Kong. The comparison between the automaker and US authorities are making "very well," said the manager, predicting the reaching of final agreement in the autumn.
Vw agreed last June to pay a fine of about $ 15 billion to resolve the dispute over dieselgate, covering legal costs and compensation related to appeals of vehicle owners involved in the scandal, by paying for an environmental fund and a commitment to promote the technology for zero-emission vehicles. In the agreement it had not been included about 80,000 VW, Audi and Porsche 3.0, which, in case of repairs could cost billions more.
Volkswagen and the officials of the Ministry of Justice have already engaged in a phase of negotiations to reach an agreement by year's end, although the US authorities have not yet defined the specific criminal charges against the German manufacturer.
Meanwhile, the plan envisages that the agreed compensation (in 2015) by the German company for 14.7 billion dollar capital comes alive. According to the source, about half of the owners of cars with the 2.0 TDI has already registered on the relevant customer platform, free to choose between the return of the car and free editing of the vehicles.
According to lawyers who follow the cause, customers who have already made a choice are about 210,000: the "majority" of these, not yet quantified, would have opted for the buy-back. For the manufacturer it is the most expensive solution, but at the same time the fastest to respect agreements (to remove 85% of polluting cars from US roads) and avoid further sanctions.
